Call for propsals FSM 2023-3 is now open

Dear FSM affiliates,

The FSM (Labex MME-DII) call for propsals 2023-3 is now open and will closed on May 19, 23:59 (CET). The following funding schemes are available within the present call:

  • PhD scholarships. FSM provides 57,500 € of funding in compensation for a 3-year doctoral contract starting in September or Ocbober 2023, including a research budget of 2,500 € available to the PhD student over the course of the contract. The contract must be offered by a doctoral school of one of the FSM’s participating institutions and based in one of the FSM’s research centers. The student must hold a master’s degree by the starting date of the contract. The application must be submitted by the student’s PhD supervisor (or a co-supervisor). Prospective PhD students cannot apply directly but are welcome to make contact with research centers to express their interest.
  • International chairs to host high-level international researchers at one of the FSM’s research centers for a duration ranging from 2 to 12 months.Besides conducting research, chairholders contribute to the FSM’s scientific activity by offering advanced courses, giving seminar presentations, and co-orgainzing scientific events. Funding partly or fully covers expenses related to travel, accommodation, organization of scientific events, and a visiting professor salary. The application must be submitted by the chairholder’s host researcher.

In all cases, the applicant must be a member of Labex MME-DII. Proposals are selected on the basis of their scientific quality, relevance to Labex MME-DII’s agenda, inter-disciplinary nature, and socio-economic impact.

Call for proposals FSM: MME-DII 2023-2

A new call for proposals is now open (Labex MME-DII-2023-2) with deadline for applications on February 14 2023. It concerns applications for scientific projects, scientific events, teaching buyouts and research internships: see below for details. Use the following link to upload applications:

The following funding schemes are available within the present call:

  • Scientific projects: either exploratory projects, for which up to 5,000 € can be requested, or ongoing projects, for which up to 2,000 € can be requested. Funding typically covers research stays and/or data collection or acquisition. Equipment and conference participation are not eligible for funding.
  • Scientific events: seminars, conferences, workshops, summer schools, or thematic cycles consisting of a series of such events together with advanced courses around a unifying theme.
  • Teaching buyouts. Labex MME-DII provides 8,000 € of funding in compensation for a teaching load reduction amounting to half of the statutory teaching load during the academic year 2023-2024..
  • Research internships. Labex MME-DII covers at most half of the internship’s cost. T___he application must be submitted by the intern’s academic mentor.

In all cases, the applicant must be a member of Labex MME-DII. Proposals are selected on the basis of their scientific quality, relevance to Labex MME-DII’s agenda, inter-disciplinary nature, and socio-economic impact. Within the scientific projects and scientific events schemes, targeted funding is available to proposals with a strong focus on inter-disciplinarity and/or impact.

New call for proposals (MME-DII 2023-1)

First I take this opportunity to wish you a good start in the new academic year. Below is a latest call for proposals.

The Labex MME-DII call for propsals 2023-1 is now open and will close on October 9 23:59 (CET). The following funding schemes are available within the present call:

  • Scientific projects: either exploratory projects, for which up to 5,000 € can be requested, or ongoing projects, for which up to 2,000 € can be requested. Funding typically covers research stays and/or data collection or acquisition. Equipment and conference participation are not eligible for funding.
  • Scientific events: seminars, conferences, workshops, summer schools, or thematic cycles consisting of a series of such events together with advanced courses around a unifying theme.
  • Master’s study grants of 7,000 € for the academic year 2023-2024. Labex MME-DII covers the full cost of the grants. The master’s program must be offered by one of Labex MME-DII’s participating institutions. The application must be submitted by the director of the master’s program, who will subsequently award the grants to their most deserving students.

In all cases, the applicant must be a member of Labex MME-DII. Proposals are selected on the basis of their scientific quality, relevance to Labex MME-DII’s agenda, inter-disciplinary nature, and socio-economic impact. Within the scientific projects and scientific events schemes, targeted funding is available to proposals with a strong focus on inter-disciplinarity and/or impact.

Call for propsals 2022-3

The Labex MME-DII call for propsals 2021-3 is now open and will close on May 13, 23:59 (CET). The following funding schemes are available within the present call:

  • PhD scholarships. Labex MME-DII provides 55,000 € of funding in compensation for a 3-year doctoral contract starting in September or Ocbober 2022, including a research budget of 2,500 € available to the PhD student over the course of the contract (as per French regulations, the PhD student’s gross salary must be at least 1,769 € per month without teaching duty). The contract must be offered by a doctoral school of one of Labex MME-DII’s participating institutions and based in one of Labex MME-DII’s research centers. The student must hold a master’s degree by the starting date of the contract. The application must be submitted by the student’s PhD supervisor (or a co-supervisor). Prospective PhD students cannot apply directly but are welcome to make contact with research centers to express their interest.
  • Postdoctoral fellowships. Labex MME-DII provides 96,000 € of funding in compensation for a 2-year postdoctoral contract starting in the fall of 2022, including a net salary of at least 1,900 € per month without teaching duty and a research budget of 6,000 € available to the postdoctoral fellow over the course of the contract. The contract must be offered by one of Labex MME-DII’s participating institutions and based in one of Labex MME-DII’s research centers. The fellow must hold a PhD degree by the starting date of the contract. The application must be submitted by the fellow’s postdoctoral mentor. Prospective postdoctoral fellows cannot apply directly but are welcome to make contact with research centers to express their interest.
  • International chairs to host high-level international researchers at one of Labex MME-DII’s research centers for a duration ranging from 2 to 12 months.Besides conducting research, chairholders contribute to Labex MME-DII’s scientific activity by offering advanced courses, giving seminar presentations, and co-orgainzing scientific events.
